Ryan Moore and Aidan O'Brien claim international honours
Ryan Moore’s dash from America after winning the Breeders’ Cup Turf on Found paid dividends as he drove Johannes Vermeer to victory in the Criterium International at Saint-Cloud.
Johannes Vermeer, trained by Aidan O’Brien, was gaining Group One reward after finishing second to Marcel in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster eight days earlier.
However, it was a close call as the Irish raider was pushed all the way by the Ed Walker-trained Stormy Antarctic, ridden by Andrea Atzeni, and there was little in it at the line.
Donjuan Triumphant finished fourth for the Richard Fahey-Middleham Park Racing axis.
Johannes Vermeer was quoted at 20-1 with Betfred and Paddy Power for the Qipco 2000 Guineas.
