Irish jockey Eddie Creighton is making good progress from a very heavy fall in Australia over the weekend.
Creighton suffered a broken wrist and concussion from the fall but he is now fully conscious. The positive news will come as a great relief to his family and friends.
The Irish man was placed in an induced coma and airlifted to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne from Warrnambool Base Hospital.
The Victorians Jockeys Association revealed: “His head injury responded well and he underwent surgery on his left wrist this morning. He is conscious and responsive and all the signs are positive.”
It has been a particularly rough time for Irish racing with JT McNamara, Jonjo Bright and Robbie McNamara all receiving serious injuries in recent times.
Another Irish jockey Brian Twomey has made a full recovery from a serious fall almost two year ago in England. He was left fighting for his life but following a remarkable recovery is hoping to return to race riding.
“I know there will be people who will say I’m mad to want to come back. But it’s been my dream since I was a boy to be a jockey and it’s a job and life I love.”
