Green light for Fontwell

Racing goes ahead at Fontwell this afternoon following a second inspection at 9am.

Officials initially checked at 8am and opted to delay a decision until 9am when frost covers had been removed.

That proved positive, with temperatures reported to be at zero and rising.

Clerk of the course Edward Arkell said: "We're happy to race, it looked positive first thing under the covers but we wanted to lift the covers back before giving the go-ahead, as we would have looked a little silly.

"It got down to -2.3C overnight but it's zero now and sunny and rising."
