Geraghty victorious in new McManus role

Barry Geraghty and JP McManus combined with Riviera Sun for their first victory together since the Meath man took over as retained rider for the high profile owner.

Geraghty, who returned from injury at the weekend got off the mark in a novice hurdle in Roscommon last night.

The Henry De Bromhead trained gelding defeated Ibsen after making all for Geraghty who was pleased with the performance.

“He’s a lovely horse and jumped and did everything well. It’s nice to ride one for the boss.”

De Bromhead who is enjoying an excellent season added, “I was a tiny bit concerned about the two-and-a-half miles but he saw it out well.

“He didn’t see out the trip over Christmas at Leopardstown but it was a different scenario today. We’ll look at going to Galway with him now.”
