Pienaar starts for Toffees
Midfielder Steven Pienaar was thrown straight back into the starting line-up on his return to the Everton side for today’s clash at Wigan but fellow new signing Nikica Jelavic had to settle for a place on the bench.
Pienaar, who has rejoined the club on loan after limited opportunities at Tottenham this season, replaced Royston Drenthe from the team that beat Manchester City on Tuesday while Sylvain Distin returned from injury at the expense of Phil Neville.
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez made only one change from the side that lost to Tottenham in midweek, goalscorer James McArthur coming in for Ben Watson, with Mohamed Diame on the bench after his return from the African Nations Cup, alongside Hugo Rodallega.
