Penalty for latecomer Lima

Portugal’s Jose-Filipe Lima was given a two-stroke penalty for missing his second-round tee-off time at the French Open today.

And he could hardly blame oversleeping. Lima, level par overnight, was not due on the tee until 4.05pm.

The 23-year-old, born in nearby Versailles, thought his time was 4.10pm and arrived after playing partners Gordon Brand Jnr and David Carter had hit off.
