Jimmy White's disappointing season went from bad to worse today when he was beaten 5-0 by Chinese teenager Xiao Guodong in the second qualifying round of the Northern Ireland Trophy at Prestatyn.
White, 45, had previously failed to qualify for the final stages of the campaign's first two tournaments, the Shanghai Masters and Grand Prix.
The six-times Crucible runner-up had a chance to win the opening frame, but 18-year-old Xiao cleared from blue to black to clinch it.
The reigning Asian U-21 champion then compiled breaks of 46, 32 and 51 to lead 3-0 and secured the whitewash as White scored only 10 points in the final two frames.
The defeat means White will not be among the 48-man field for the final stages in Belfast next month and will see him fall even lower from his current provisional ranking of 68th.
If he fails to finish inside the top 64 at the end of the season, the perennial crowd favourite will lose his professional status.
