“Once they wore our uniform and ran around our school.”
The O’Donovan brothers got a warm welcome when they visited their former national school this week.
The tiny parish of Lisheen is bursting with pride at their Olympic heroes and the rowers, who won silver at the Rio Games this summer, were popular visitors when they arrived to show off their medals.
Before showing images of their visit, the school couldn’t resist including a picture of Gary and Paul as young pupils.
What a pair of little angels!
School teacher Niamh McCarthy described the brothers as “legends” and said it was an unforgettable day for the whole school.
“Every child in the school got to touch their medals and pose for a photo with them,” she said.
“The kids will never forget it.”
