VIDEO: Rare ‘own point’ scored in Cavan club football game

Own goals are a common enough occurrence in soccer, but scoring against one’s own team is pretty much unheard of in GAA.

It happened this weekend in Cavan though, and unfortunately for the hapless scorer, it was all caught on camera.

Ramor United were taking Castlerahan in a County Championship game and Oisin O'Connell of Castlerahan was putting pressure on the Ramor defence.

Ramor’s Stefan Connolly presumably intended to clear the ball, but instead somehow knocked it over his own bar.

Oh dear.

We don't thin kthe player will be too pleased that local sports site www.wearecavan were at the match to record the point for posterity.

Castlerahan went on to win the game by nine points.
