Two year ban proposed for Galvin attacker

The man accused of invading a GAA pitch and attacking Paul Galvin with a hurley at the weekend is facing a two-year ban.

Kilmoyley vice-chairman Paddy O’Sullivan is facing the ban after ugly scenes in the Kerry Senior hurling final on Sunday when his club played Galvin’s Lixnaw.

O’Sullivan ran onto the pitch to get involved in an altercation at the start of the second-half and hit the Kerry star with a hurley before being escorted from the grounds.

The Irish Examiner reports that the Kerry competitions controls committee met on Monday and a two-year ban is the punishment they decided on after considering the referee’s match report.

In addition, Kilmoyley GAA will be asked to lodge a four-figure bond with the Kerry County Board, as a guarantee of good behaviour. They would lose the bond if any club members were involved in serious misconduct in the future.

O’Sullivan and Kilmoyley have three days to decide whether they will accept the ban and the bond decision or appeal to the Kerry County Board’s hearings committee.
