The WWE is crowning its first ever UK and Ireland champion

If WWE plays a big part in your life then we have huge news – Ireland and the UK are getting their own champion.

Triple H himself was in London to announce that in January the first ever WWE United Kingdom Champion will be crowned following a special two-night tournament.

Competitors from across Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are taking part, with William Regal one of those responsible for scouting.

Bray's Jordan Devlin, who’s trained by Finn Balor, is one competitor, while Trent Seven, Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Tyson T-Bone and Tiger Ali are some of the other fighters we’ll get to know on the UK’s WWE network.

On the nights of January 14 and January 15 they’ll take part in a single-elimination tournament for the very regal belt pictured above, helping shine a light on wrestlers from this side of the pond.

The decision to bring a UK and Ireland league – undertaken because “our passionate UK fans deserve to have their own Champion”, according to Triple H – has been praised.

And while William Regal won’t be on commentary, Michael Cole and Nigel McGuinness will be.

Tickets for the Blackpool tournament are available here.
