Pacquiao defends title in comfortable Macau victory

Manny Pacquiao defended his WBO welterweight title after securing a unanimous points victory against American Chris Algieri in Macau.

Pacquiao produced a clinical display and, even though the 35-year-old Filipino was unable to secure a knockout victory for the ninth consecutive bout, the judges scored him the winner 119-103, 119-103 and 120-102.

Pacquiao sent Algieri to the canvas six times throughout the fight as he inflicted a first defeat of the 30-year-old's career.

It was Pacquiao's first title defence since he reclaimed the title with a unanimous points decision victory over Timothy Bradley in Las Vegas in April.
