Irish UFC fighter Conor McGregor had given up fighting for good for a number of weeks before he was offered his first UFC fight.
In a wide-ranging interview with the charismatic combatant which aired on Setanta Sports last night, Mc Gregor told of the moment he was offered the chance to make his debut.
"We got some bad news about a team mate of mine that couldn't compete any more, so I was thinking: f*** this," he told Setanta.
He stopped turning up for training and was dodging phone calls from what he assumed would be an angry manager - but when he eventually did, it was the offer of a UFC debut.
The fighter also revealed the role his mother played in his career path, encouraging him to divert his energy productively, and his feelings on fellow fighters (not much of which is positive).
The channel have put it up in its entirety on YouTube, free for all to see. At 42 minutes, it might be a bit long for work, but it's worth saving for later.
