But, amazingly enough, Maria thinks John has seen quite enough of the bright lights for now.

In a bid to change her mind he persuaded comedian Jason Byrne to make a video appeal for him.

Byrne posted the clip on Facebook last night, captioned: “The help John Matthews see Conor McGregor fight appeal thing that his wife Marie won't let him go to somewhere Vegas?”

We’re not sure if the appeal will actually help John’s cause.

“He loves you sooo much and he would really, really like to go, without you, again,” Byrne deadpans to the camera.

We await Maria’s response with interest, although John isn't too hopeful.

"I was over for the Dustin Poirier fight, and then I was at the Mendes one in July and I'm just back from the last one in December," John said to joe. "And we had our honeymoon over there in June so that's four times.

“Maria told me I'm definitely not going to the next one."
