McCormack added to Irish U19 squad

Irish Under-19 manager Sean McCaffrey has brought Alan McCormack from Preston North

End into his squad for tonight's European Championship qualifier between Ireland and England.

McCormack comes into the squad after Liverpool's Darren Potter was forced to pull out because

of a hamstring problem.

Having been examined at the team's headquarters yesterday it was considered that Potter would not be fit enough to take part in any of the matches this week so he was allowed return to Liverpool for treatment.

The game, which is all-ticket, will kick off at 7.30pm.

Tickets for tonight's European U-19 Championship qualifier will be on sale at caravans outside the ground up to match time.

This is the first of Ireland's three games in the mini-tournament qualifier this week. They play Switzerland at Richmond Park, Inchicore, on May 21, at 5pm and they meet Slovenia on Friday night

at Tolka Park with a 7.30pm start.

Only the country that tops the group at the end of the qualifiers will go through to the finals in Leichtenstein in July.

The full schedule of fixtures for the mini-tournament is :

Monday, May 19 - Switzerland v Slovenia, Belfield Park (2.30); Republic of Ireland v England, Tolka Park (7.30);

Wednesday, May 21 - England v Slovenia, Dalymount Park (2.30); Republic of Ireland v Switzerland, Richmond Park, Inchicore (5.00);

Friday, May 23 - Slovenia v Republic of Ireland, Tolka Park (7.30); England v Switzerland, O2 Park, Drogheda (7.30).
