Excitement is building in advance of Kildare County Football Club's two historic matches over the next ten days.

The Thoroughbreds will play their first ever Eircom League game at home to Limerick on Saturday, August 24 (kick-off 6.00pm) then face Finn Harps in the first leg of the First Division Cup Final on Wednesday, August 28.

A sign of the interest can be confirmed by the formation of the official Kildare County supporters club this week, following on from the phenomenal take-up of the Junior Thoroughbreds scheme.

Both forthcoming games are sure to attract massive crowds to Station Road, Newbridge - the final first leg will also kick off at 6.00pm - ticket details will be available from Kildare County Football Club during the week.

Finn Harps, who will host the second leg at Finn Park, Ballybofey on Wednesday 4th September (kick-off 7.45pm), are one of the red hot favourites for promotion this year, having just missed out to Longford Town in a penalty shoot-out last term.
