Katie Taylor will defend her Olympic title in Rio this summer.

The 2012 gold medallist has guaranteed a spot at the Olympics with a win this afternoon at the World championships in Astana.

Taylor beat Mexico’s Victoria Torres in their quarter-final, winning all four rounds comfortably.

The Bray boxer never looked under pressure, dominating from the start with frequent use of her left hook.

Congratulations have poured in for Ireland’s golden girl.

Dublin's Kellie Harrington has also guaranteed at least a bronze medal after winning her quarter final earlier today.

Harrington won every round of her bout.

Offaly's Grainne Walsh misses out on a medal having lost her quarter final.
