Ireland's James McGee has lost his first round match at the US Open in New York.

The Dubliner upset Aleksandr Nedovyesov of Kazakhstan by 6 games to 4 in the opening set but his opponent recovered to win the match in 4 sets - despite McGee recovering briliantly from a break down in the closing set to force it into a tie-break.

McGee lost out eventually - 1-6, 6-2, 6-1, 7-6.
