Jack Kennedy suffers fractured leg in first ride back after fracturing the same leg

Jack Kennedy is facing another spell on the sidelines after suffering a leg injury in a fall at Thurles on Thursday.

The 17-year-old was having his first ride back since fracturing his leg in September when his mount, Mega Fortune, fell at the second flight in a juvenile hurdle.

Kennedy, who is attached to Gordon Elliott's yard, has made a rapid start this season and is currently leading the championship in Ireland.

The Irish Turf Club's medical officer Dr Adrian McGoldrick said: "I've spoken to Jack and he has suffered an injury to the same leg.

"He's been to see his surgeon, Paddy Kenny, and at this stage he's been told to rest up for two weeks.

"Jack will go back to see him then and we'll know a lot more after that."

Elliott added: "He's got a fracture to his leg and he will go back in two weeks to have it looked at again.

"He won't be out too long we could be looking at five or six weeks.

"Basically he got wiped out as our horse got turned sideways."
