Harte to remain in charge of Tyrone up to 2015
Despite missing out on Allianz League Division 2 honours against Kildare last weekend, Mickey Harte believes he is the man to lead Tyrone to more silverware in the coming seasons.
Harte's immediate future as Tyrone's senior football manager is secure after he agreed another three-year term with the County Board.
A statement issued this evening confirmed that the Tyrone Management Committee offered him the new deal and that it was endorsed by the County Committe in Carrickmore last night.
That means that the Errigal Ciarán clubman will remain in charge of the Red Hands until at least the end of the 2015 All-Ireland Championship.
This season - Harte's last of his current three-year term - saw him guide Tyrone to their first Dr. McKenna Cup title since 2007 and his side enjoyed a seven-match winning streak in Division 2 before losing last Sunday's final to Kildare.
Tyrone have had some stunning successes at provincial and national level since he was appointed to the role back in November 2002.
He delivered the county's first All-Ireland SFC title the following September, and they have lifted the Sam Maguire Cup on two more occasions since then - 2005 and 2008. His managerial list of honours also includes four Ulster SFC crowns, five Dr. McKenna Cups and one National League title.
Speaking to the Tyrone GAA website earlier today, Harte said: "It is a great privilege to be asked by the County Committee to take charge of the Tyrone senior football team and I gladly accepted that offer.
"To be asked to manage the best players that your county has to offer is still a wonderful honour."
