An Irish ladies football star brutally attacked in America in 2012 is to return to New York tomorrow to read a victim impact statement.

Alisha Jordan from Skryne, Co Meath, was viciously assaulted in an unprovoked attack in the Woodlawn area of the Bronx when walking home at 2am with a friend in July 2012.

Alisha was savagely beaten with a brick, suffering two broken cheekbones, a broken nose, fractures to both orbital bones, and also suffered nerve damage that made her lose sight for two weeks.

She also had 10 metal plates inserted into her head and two major surgeries.

Alisha's assailant has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after changing his plea to guilty.

Having made a great recovery, Alisha will appear in court tomorrow to read a victim impact statement.

“He has openly admitted that he is the person who did it,” the New York ladies football captain told The Meath Chronicle. “Once that’s done, it’s over forever and I don’t have to deal with it again. That’s all I wanted since this started.”

Earlier this summer, the 22-year-old's father, John Joe, suddenly passed away and was unable to see his daughter captain New York in the junior ladies football All-Ireland final in Croke Park in September.

Her mother and siblings will remain in Ireland for the court hearing. However, Alisha will be surrounded by many of her close friends in her adopted home of New York.
