Courtois starts for Blues, again, Delaney starts for Palace

Chelsea v Leicester

Belgian international Thibaut Courtois started again in goal for Chelsea against Leicester.

Veteran Petr Cech was on the bench once again as he had been for the Barclays Premier League opener at Burnley, but there was no place for striker Fernando Torres, who had been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Summer signings Filipe Luis and Didier Drogba, returning to his old club, were both among the substitutes.

Leicester drew 2-2 with Everton in their first match back in the top flight. Goalscorer Chris Wood had to be content with a place on the bench as David Nugent started in attack.

Chelsea: Courtois, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Matic, Fabregas, Schurrle, Hazard, Oscar, Costa.

Subs: Cech, Luis, Zouma, Ramires, Drogba, Mikel, Willian.

Leicester: Schmeichel, De Laet, Morgan, Moore, Konchesky, Mahrez, King, Hammond, Schlupp, Nugent, Ulloa.

Subs: Albrighton, Hamer, Hopper, Taylor-Fletcher, Knockaert, Wasilewski, Wood.

Referee: Lee Mason (Lancashire)

Crystal Palace v West Ham

Scott Dann missed Crystal Palace’s first home game of the Premier League season against West Ham after failing a late fitness test.

Caretaker manager Keith Millen selected Damien Delaney and Barry Bannan in his starting line-up, while Hammers boss Sam Allardyce included fit-again James Tomkins and full debutant Mauro Zarate.

Highly-respected commentator Barry Davies was back on BBC duty 10 years after his retirement to call the clash, the 76-year-old helping celebrate Match of the Day’s 50th anniversary.

Crystal Palace: Speroni, Kelly, Hangeland, Delaney, Ward, Bannan, Ledley, Jedinak, Bolasie, Chamakh, Campbell.

Subs: Mariappa, McCarthy, O’Keefe, Hennessey, Gayle, Murray, Jonathan Williams.

West Ham: Adrian, O’Brien, Reid, Tomkins, Cresswell, Kouyate, Noble, Downing, Zarate, Vaz Te, Cole.

Subs: Morrison, Sakho, Demel, Diame, Jaaskelainen, Poyet, Valencia.

Referee: Mark Clattenburg (Tyne & Wear)

Southampton v West Brom

Southampton and West Brom resisted the urge to bring in their big-money summer strikers as both remained unchanged for their Barclays Premier League meeting at St Mary’s.

Saints lost at Liverpool last weekend but former West Brom frontman Shane Long, who made a 15-minute cameo from the bench, remained among the substitutes – with fellow new recruit Florin Gardos fit enough to join him.

Baggies’ club-record signing Brown Ideye was an unused replacement in their 2-2 draw against Sunderland and could be given his first chance to make an impression on the south coast – as both Saints boss Ronald Koeman and West Brom counterpart Alan Irvine searched for their maiden wins.

Southampton: Forster, Clyne, Yoshida, Fonte, Bertrand, Schneiderlin, Wanyama, Steven Davis, Ward-Prowse, Tadic, Pelle.

Subs: Kelvin Davis, Gardos, Long, Taider, Cork, Hooiveld, Isgrove.

West Brom: Foster, Wisdom, Dawson, Olsson, Pocognoli, Dorrans, Gardner, Mulumbu, Brunt, Berahino, Anichebe.

Subs: Baird, Yacob, Ideye, Myhill, Davidson, McAuley, Sessegnon.

Referee: Roger East (Wiltshire)

Swansea v Burnley

Swansea boss Garry Monk named an unchanged side for the Barclays Premier League visit of Burnley after the shock opening day win at Manchester United.

Argentina defender Federico Fernandez, signed from Napoli for £8million in midweek, and midfielder Tom Carroll, who joined on a season-long loan from Spurs on Friday, were both left out of the matchday squad to allow them more time to integrate with the club.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche also named an unchanged side as the newly-promoted Clarets aimed to register their first points after losing 3-1 at home to Chelsea on their return to the top-flight.

Swansea: Fabianski, Rangel, Williams, Amat, Taylor, Shelvey, Ki, Dyer, Sigurdsson, Routledge, Bony.

Subs: Gomis, Tiendalli, Montero, Tremmel, Bartley, Richards, Sheehan.

Burnley: Heaton, Trippier, Duff, Shackell, Mee, Arfield, Marney, Jones, Taylor, Ings, Jutkiewicz.

Subs: Ward, Wallace, Kightly, Sordell, Reid, Gilks, Barnes.

Referee: Craig Pawson (South Yorkshire)
