Conor McGregor reveals his fight plans for 2018

Since making his boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather in August, Conor McGregor has been taking it easy on the fight front.

And why wouldn't he? He got more than $100m for that bout.

Fans were hoping the UFC lightweight champion would make a return to the octagon in December 30's UFC 219, but his expected title defence against Tony Ferguson didn't materialise, the headline featuring Cris Cyborg v Holly Holm instead.

However, the Dubliner has revealed his future plans to Betsafe.com during the launch of their 'The Walk' ad.

The Crumlin native said: "Right now, my focus is getting back into the right ring or octagon. 2017 was historic. I have transcended both the sport of MMA and boxing. I have every intention of fighting in 2018 if my compensation and business development endeavours accurately reflect my influence on combat sports.

"Me and my team are in continued negotiations with the UFC, and if the deal makes commercial sense, I look forward to fighting for my company in 2018."

McGregor said if anyone wants to face him, then opponents must lobby for a fight with him.

He said: "At this stage of my career, as it has been for the majority of my UFC career, potential opponents must lobby for fights with me. We could see Conor McGregor anywhere.

"I run the fight game, the fashion game, the whiskey game, or whatever the next business endeavour might be.

"Passion overcomes the odds’ is something that resonates with me because I overcame my situation through pure determination and dedication to success. I am proud to be a Betsafe ambassador and lead this campaign because we share the same commitment to success. Filming this campaign was an amazing experience, and I can’t wait to tell my story to my incredible fans across the world."
