Conor McGregor has received a $150,000 (€135,000) fine and been ordered to serve 50 hours of community service for his part in an altercation at a UFC 202 press conference,
.As part of the ruling, McGregor will have to take part in an anti-bullying public service announcement, which will be funded by part of the fine.
The Nevada Athletic Commission unanimously decided on the punishment after a hearing into McGregor and Nate Diaz throwing bottles and other objects at each other three days before their August bout.
The fine is 5% of McGregor’s $3million (€2.7million) payment for his part in the record-breaking fight and significantly higher than the $25,000 (€22,500) initially recommended by the Nevada Attorney General.
“I just want to apologise for the incident,” McGregor told the Commission over the phone.
“It was a very unusual incident even as I saw it unfolding. I acted wrong, and all I can say is I'm sorry and I will learn from this.
“This fight had everything on the line for me. This was the highest paid fight I'd ever been in. I was in a different mindset.
“So all I can do is learn from it and learn to handle myself better if I find myself in a situation like that again.”
However he brushed aside the size of the fine on Twitter…
