Orchard star Toal facing year out
An MRI scan has today confirmed the worst for John Toal - the talented Armagh midfielder is to be sidelined from football for at least a year.
The 26-year-old, who suffered a serious blow to his knee after 32 minutes of Sunday's drawn Ulster SFC final against Tyrone, underwent an exploratory scan this morning on his knee and cruciate and lateral ligament damage was revealed.
Philip Loughran looks set to replace the crocked Keady star in the Armagh midfield for the replay against the Red Hands on July 23.
Loughran, who came on as a substitute for Toal last weekend at Croke Park, turned in an authoritative display, notably laying the foundations for Armagh's first goal from Oisin McConville.
Toal himself, came on as a substitute to grab a crucial goal in the Ulster semi-final defeat of Derry and his presence will be sorely missed at Croker on Saturday week.
