Bradley targets repeat performance against Ulster09/04/2012 - 09:43:11
Edinburgh head coach Michael Bradley has called on his players to reproduce the level of performance which saw them overcome Toulouse in Murrayfield on Saturday, when they meet Ulster in the Heineken Cup semi-final.
An outstanding defensive effort from Edinburgh in the second half on Saturday ensured Toulouse failed to register a single point after in the interval as the Scottish outfit claimed a 19-14 victory.
The result means Edinburgh will be the first Scottish team to take part in a Heineken Cup semi-final in the tournament’s history when they meet Ulster in the Aviva Stadium on April 28.
Edinburgh are likely to be underdogs when they run out against an Ulster side who secured a historic Thomond Park victory over Munster on Sunday, but Bradley insists his team deserved to beat Toulouse and they can get to the final in Twickenham if they reproduce the intensity they showed on Saturday.
“As a club we have not been to a semi-final before so we’re going to go to the Aviva and enjoy the day,” Bradley told the Telegraph.
“But we’ll enjoy it more if we win the match and even more so if we win it playing the rugby we’re capable of playing.
“I think we played very good rugby in the second half against Toulouse. Our defence was excellent and we closed them down, and those are good facts to take forward.
“There is not a magical reason why Edinburgh Rugby won and Toulouse didn’t.
“That’s what happened on the day and we’d like to do the same with Ulster: pressure them in defence and take our chances when they come.”
