Lee received a straight red card for an off-the-ball incident during the closing stages of that win. O'Donovan, who has been troubled by a back injury, was brought on for the final 20 minutes.

Dual players Stephen Lucey and Mark O'Riordan have failed to break into the starting fifteen, after completing their summer campaign with the Shannonsiders' hurlers.

Tommy Stack remains at right corner back. He is one of five changes in personnel to the Limerick line-up from their 1-26 to 3-9 Munster semi-final defeat to Kerry in early June.

John Riordan, John Mullane, Mike Sheehan and Seamus O'Carroll are the other new inclusions, with Mark O'Riordan, captain Barry Fitzpatrick, Lee, James Kelly and John Cooke all making way.

Limerick, under Mayo native Maurice Horan, are in the quarter-finals of the All-Ireland Championship for the first time.

They have recovered from that deflating loss to the Kingdom by posting qualifier victories over Offaly (3-13 to 0-15), Waterford (0-14 to 0-9) and Wexford (1-18 to 1-17).

Limerick's talismanic midfielder John Galvin, whose season was ended by a cruciate knee ligament injury, will be one of their most passionate supporters this weekend.

"History is in the making on Sunday - it's 1896 since Limerick were in the latter stages of the All-Ireland," Galvin told the Limerick Leader.

"This is a massive game. Over almost the last 10 years we have had lots of opportunities, but we were beaten in the round before the quarter-finals and never managed to break that duck until now.

"This is our first time there (in the quarter-finals) and that is an absolutely massive achievement and hopefully it will not end there."
