O’Donnell: We’re not going to Croker to make up numbers

Roscommon boss Fergal O’Donnell has promised his side will upset the bookies when they face Cork in Sunday’s All-Ireland quarter-final at Croke Park, 2pm.

The surprise Connacht champions are 8/1 outsiders, but O’Donnell insists his team being written off will motivate them against one of the favourites.

“People are saying we’ll be blown out of the water and that Cork only have to turn up,” said O’Donnell.

“It’s a tough draw but we’re Connacht champions and we didn’t get there by chance.

“I think we’ll get a big performance. We’ve worked hard since the Connacht final and we’re not going in there just to make up the numbers,” he promised.

Meanwhile, Conor Counihan has named an unchanged team.

Aidan Walsh, Paul Kerrigan, Derek Kavanagh and Paddy Kelly all retain their places on the team despite being substituted in Cork’s extra-time win over Limerick last weekend.

Donncha O’Connor, Nicholas Murphy, Alan O’Connor and John Miskella must all be content with a place on the bench.
