Munster's Williams restored at nine for Glasgow test
Having seen Cathal Sheridan overtake him in the scrum-half pecking order in recent games, Munster number 9 Duncan Williams has been given a chance to prove himself after being named in the starting XV for tomorrow's RaboDirect PRO12 match against Glasgow Warriors in Scotstoun (8.05pm)
With Conor Murray yet to return to the provincial setup after a busy Six Nations campaign Sheridan and Williams have been battling for the number 9 jersey and the young Sligo man is named among the replacements
Head coach Rob Penney has kept changes to a minimum for the trip to Glasgow.
The only other change in the backline sees Johne Murphy come onto the wing in place of Denis Hurley who failed to recover from a hamstring strain sustained against Connacht last weekend.
Felix Jones and skipper Doug Howlett complete the back three with James Downey and Casey Laulala occupying the midfield. Ronan O’Gara will link up with Williams at half-back.
In the pack, changes from last day see Mike Sherry and BJ Botha ahead of Damien Varley and Stephen Archer respectively with Dave Kilcoyne completing the front row.
Paddy Butler comes into the back row for the injured (knee) Sean Dougall alongside Tommy O’Donnell and James Coughlan.
After an impressive return to action against Connacht, Paul O’Connell has been picked to start again alongside the familiar frame of Donncha O’Callaghan in the second row.
