Munster make wholesale changes

With a host of regular starters missing through Six Nations duty and others on the injury list Rob Penney has made twelve changes to his starting XV from the last RaboDirect PRO 12 game for tomorrow’s meeting with Edinburgh at Musgrave Park (7.45pm).

Nine who started the defeat to Cardiff Blues in the last league outing are either injured or involved with Ireland while three more – Mike Sherry, Dave Foley and Tommy O’Donnell - are named on the bench.

There’s a first start of the season for Danny Barnes and Ivan Dineen in a youthful backline which sees JJ hanrahan start at inside centre.

Ian Keatley and Duncan Williams have been given the nod at half back with Johne Murphy and Denis Hurley completing the line up behind the scrum.

Up front Ian Nagle will make his second start of the year alongside Billy Holland in the second row.

The front row trio of Marcus Horan, Damian Varley and CJ Botha will add some experience to the team.

CJ Stander returns to the side after breaking a bone in his hand in the game against Glasgow back on December 1, though he has featured in recent British and Irish cup games and did come on as a replacement in January against the Blues.

He's picked at blindside in a back row along with Sean Dougall and James Coughlan who will captain the side.

Munster (v. Edinburgh): D Hurley; J Murphy, I Dineen, JJ Hanrahan, D Barnes; I Keatley, D Williams; M Horan, D Varley, BJ Botha; I Nagle, B Holland; CJ Stander, S Dougall, J Coughlan (capt).

Replacements: M Sherry, W du Preez, J Ryan, D Foley, T O’Donnell, P Butler, C Sheridan, S Deasy.
