Mido dreaming of Champions League

20/12/2005 - 14:32:14
Tottenham striker Mido wants to fire the club into Europe and secure himself a permanent move to White Hart Lane.

The Egypt international’s loan deal from Roma ends next summer but he is concentrating on ensuring Martin Jol’s side maintain their challenge for the Champions League and, at the very least, secure a UEFA Cup place.

“We are doing well. We are in the top four. That [the Champions League] is what we are dreaming about and it if comes it will be great,” he said.

“If not, we will fight for a UEFA Cup position.

“I am very happy here now I know more about English football. When you know more about something, you can do it better.

“I won’t find better players than at Tottenham to play with. All I care about is to play good [football] and score goals.

“The rest is between Tottenham and my manager. He will let me know when they start talks.”

Mido also said he is trying to broker a deal to allow him to join Egypt’s squad for next month’s African Nations Cup as late as possible.

“We are talking to the Egypt federation so that I will only go four or five days before the tournament,” he told The London Evening Standard.

“We are still negotiating and we will know more next week.”
