McNamara in the wars

26/10/2009 - 18:00:33
Andrew McNamara was taken to hospital for precautionary x-rays after injuring his ankle at Galway.

The jockey was partnering Benalma in the Castlegar Handicap Chase but pulled up his mount after being struck by a stirrup.

McNamara’s agent Gary Cribbin said: “He’s twisted his ankle and he has just gone for x-rays as a precaution.

“The racecourse doctor didn’t think it was broken but we will have to see.”

Meanwhile Paddy Flood, who fell from Head Waiter in the same race, suffered a soft tissue injury to his shoulder and was stood down for 24 hours.
