McLeish points finger in blame game

02/05/2006 - 09:56:13
Alex McLeish admits Rangers will have no-one to blame but themselves if they end the season with no rewards.

They already know it will be a campaign barren of silverware after relinquishing the Bank of Scotland Premier League title to Celtic, as well as suffering early exits from both cup competitions.

Their only hope now of salvaging a dismal domestic season is pipping Hearts to second place in the SPL and ensuring they have another crack at the Champions League next year.

But with Hearts boasting a four-point cushion with just two games to go, their chances are looking slim.

Old Firm rivals Celtic failed to aid their cause by suffering a 3-0 defeat to Hearts at the weekend and Rangers are now relying on Aberdeen to take points from the Edinburgh club tomorrow night.

But, speaking ahead of their own game against Hibernian tonight, McLeish said: “It’s nothing to do with other teams, it is ourselves and we can only blame ourselves.”
