McKenna preparing to take over at Limerick helm

09/03/2005 - 07:40:03
Former selector Joe McKenna is in line to take over as Limerick senior hurling manager after the County Board reappointed him and co-selector Declan Nash at its meeting last night.

Liam Lenihan, a selector with Limerick when they reached the All-Ireland finals of 1994 and 1996, will also come on board, and the trio will decide who will become manager.

Former player McKenna, a close friend of sponsor JP McManus, is the favourite to land the post.

A vote of no confidence in McKenna and Nash was narrowly defeated (62-58).

The county board will also appoint a hurling coach and have recommended that the policy on dual players be relaxed.
