Lucey wins Munster Autocross
Cork driver Gerard Lucey (Toyota Special), needing to finish ahead of his championship rival David Forde (Toyota Special), did just that and duly annexed the Munster Autocross Championship at the final round of the series at Clonakilty this afternoon.
Lucey was never headed throughout the five timed runs and although Forde made a brave attempt on the penultimate run, Lucey’s time recorded on the second timed run proved to be the winner.
For the 27-year-old Ballyvourney man it was his fifth win of the season and in championship terms a third consecutive title.
Another impresive performer was Mallow’s Mike Deane Junior, driving a Mk 1 Ford escort, he took the saloon honours along with a class victory.
