Late penalty sees City drop points

Cork City 1 Bohemians 1

A Keith Ward penalty at the death earned Bohemians a point at Turner’s Cross as Cork failed to take their chances.

Daryl Horgan’s fifth goal of the season stretched Cork’s unbeaten league run to nine games, but it should have also been enough to win the game and edge them up to sixth place in the table.

But an under-strength Bohs plugged away and got their reward in the 91st minute when Kevin Murray took down Derek Pender inside the area.

Ward blasted the resultant spot kick to the roof of the net.

Cork started brightly and after a couple of half chances from Davin O’Neill were missed they deservedly took the lead on 23 minutes.

Horgan broke down the right, collected a pass from Gearoid Morrissey, before shoot past Andy McNulty in the Gypsies’ goal.
