Lagat breaks indoor record
07/02/2010 - 10:53:35Bernard Lagat, the former world 5,000 metres champion, broke the American indoor record over the distance at the Reebok Boston Games on Saturday.
The Kenyan-born star fulfilled his pre-race promise of achieving the feat when winning in a time of 13 minutes 11.50 seconds.
Lagat’s 1,500m speed – last weekend he won the Millrose Games Wanamaker mile for a record eighth time – took him marginally clear of the Ethiopian pair of Dejen Gebremeskel and Bekana Daba.
