Kirkland remains on sidelines

15/11/2005 - 12:59:54
West Brom have ruled Chris Kirkland out of action for at least another two weeks.

The on-loan Liverpool goalkeeper has missed two matches since suffering a bruised kidney in the defeat at Bolton last month.

The club had hoped the injury-plagued 24-year-old would be fit to return in Saturday’s Premiership clash with Everton but they have decided he should not be risked.

Assistant manager Nigel Pearson told the club’s official website, www.wba.co.uk: “It’s quite a serious injury which can be very dangerous if you ignore it and with a goalkeeper throwing himself around the risk is even greater.

“It is frustrating for him, and I’m aware he’s keen to put this tag behind him of being injury prone, but they have been serious injuries.

“We’re disappointed for him because we know how keen is to make a career for himself as a regular goalkeeper.”
