City agree fee for Anelka
27/01/2005 - 18:35:20Manchester City confirmed tonight they have agreed a fee with Turkish giants Fenerbahce for striker Nicolas Anelka.
City are believed to have accepted an offer in the region of £7m (€10.1m) following a day of protracted negotiations.
Anelka is now on his way to Istanbul in a bid to thrash out personal terms with the Turkish club.
A City spokesman said: “Manchester City and Fenerbahce have agreed a fee for the transfer of Nicolas Anelka.
“The club will make no further comment until the transfer is complete.”
The 25-year-old has not played for City since New Year’s Day and it recently became evident he had no part to play in Kevin Keegan’s future plans.
Anelka joined City for £13m (€18.8m) from Paris St Germain in July 2002.
