Kerry and Kildare announce teams02/03/2013 - 11:35:14
Kerry manager Éamonn Fitzmaurice has made six changes in personnel for tomorrow's Allianz League Division 1 encounter with Kildare in Newbridge (throw-in 2pm).
Eoin Brosnan, Johnny Buckley and Kieran O'Leary return to the Kingdom fold after Dr Crokes were knocked out of the AIB All-Ireland Club Championship by Ballymun Kickhams.
Captain Brosnan and Kieran Donaghy have been paired up in midfield, the latter having appeared as a substitute in Kerry's disappointing round 2 defeat to Dublin. Anthony Maher misses out with a calf injury.
Buckley and O'Leary are the newcomers in attack along with Donnchadh Walsh who is back to full fitness after a hip/groin injury.
James O'Donoghue has been switched to full forward, with Michael Geaney, Michael O'Donoghue and Patrick Curtin all dropping to the bench.
The one change in defence sees Shane Enright return at left corner back at the expense of Peter Crowley, while David Moran has made a welcome return from a double cruciate injury and takes his place among the substitutes.
Among the players unavailable to Fitzmaurice this week are Declan O'Sullivan (back), Colm Cooper (niggles), Bryan Sheehan (fitness), Paul Geaney (hamstring) and Paul Galvin, who has only just resumed training with the county panel.
Meanwhile, Confey's Hugh Lynch will deputise at midfield for the unavailable Gary White in the Kildare team this weekend.
White has left the panel ahead of a six-month tour of duty with the Irish Defence Forces in Lebanon. Lynch, making his first start of the league campaign, is one of four changes Lilywhites boss Kieran McGeeney has made.
Eoin Doyle will start at left half-back in place of Ollie Lyons, while the performances of Niall Kelly and Tomas O'Connor as influential substitutes in the recent win over Cork have been rewarded.
Kelly is set to line out at centre forward, although he faces a fitness test today before his participation in the match is confirmed. O'Connor will fill the target man role with Cathal McNally and Eoghan O'Flaherty the players to make way.
