Hoops' focus returns to League

15/07/2011 - 09:17:57
Shamrock Rovers return to domestic action when they take on Drogheda United at Hunky Dorys Park tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

The Hoops were in Champions League action on Tuesday night and will be flying off for the second leg in Talinn, with a 1-0 advantage, after the game in Drogheda.

And Chris Turner is suspended for the Hoops, while Karl Sheppard remains out of the squad with an ankle injury.

Hoops boss Michael O’Neill said: “We were pleased with the result and performance on Tuesday, but our focus is back on the league now.

“We may need to shuffle the pack up a bit with next Tuesday’s game in our mind, but we’ll look at that ahead of the game.

“It’s a good chance for us to get back to winning ways in the league, so we’re looking forward to that now – we want to take that chance.”

Tiernan Mulvenna returns from injury and will be involved for Drogheda, while new signings Jordan White and Lee Lynch are also available for selection.

Jack Flynn and Colm O'Brien are both out injured and will not be available for United boss Mick Cooke.

Cooke said: “Shamrock Rovers have the biggest squad in the country so I can't see it being a problem for Mick to play two sides.

“Dave Rogers started for us last week and he is a great addition to the squad.

“We have a few new faces that are going to give us a boost. If we can play like we did against Sligo it should be an interesting game and we will certainly be putting it up to them.”
