‘The Golden Bear’ of golf Jack Nicklaus proved he is still a force to be reckoned with - scoring a hole-in-one during the Par-3 contest in Augusta yesterday.
Nicklaus won the Masters competition six times in his 25 year Tour career, the last win coming almost 30 years ago in 1986.
Spectators on the course in Augusta yesterday were overjoyed to see the former champion ace the fourth hole during the traditional pre-tournament competition.
The 75-year-old hit a beauty of a shot over water to put the ball on the green before it rolled neatly backwards and into the hole.
Still got it.
While golf fans might have been surprised to see the 18 time Major winner get an ace, there was one person who wasn’t - Nicklaus himself.
He’d suggested he might get one in a television interview before his round.
“Maybe a hole-in-one, how ‘bout that?” he asked. “We’ll try to get one for ya.”
