Storm leads Omega Masters
Graeme Storm held on to his narrow overnight lead at the midway point of the final round in the Omega European Masters today.
Storm began the day one shot ahead of fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood at Crans-sur-Sierre, thanks to a third round of 64 which featured a hole-in-one on the 11th.
And the 36-year-old remained top of the leaderboard thanks to a front nine of 34 taking him to 18 under par, one ahead of Fleetwood and American duo Brooks Koepka and David Lipsky.
Storm, whose only previous European Tour win came in the French Open in 2007, made the ideal start with birdies at the first two holes, but then three-putted from the front edge of the fourth green for a bogey.
That allowed Lipsky to draw level thanks to a tap-in eagle on the reachable par-four seventh and Fleetwood made it a three-way tie with a birdie on the same hole.
A birdie from three feet on the eighth edged Storm back in front, but Koepka then two-putted the ninth to join Fleetwood and Lipsky on 17 under.
England’s Tyrrell Hatton was a shot further back on 16 under while France’s Romain Wattel had recorded a hole-in-one on the 11th, only to discover there was only one sports car on offer for an ace, which Storm had claimed yesterday.
