PICS: Rory McIlroy posts lurid photos of recent ankle injury
Rory McIlroy is making an quicker than expected recovery from his recent ankle injury and posted pictures of the damage on Instagram to show his fans how far he has come.
The World No. 1 golfer was unable to defend his Open Championship last month after damaging ankle ligaments during a kickabout with friends.
This morning he posted pictures of his ankle taken during his recovery - looking heavily swollen four and a half weeks ago and covered in multi-coloured bruises three weeks ago.
Ouch!
Looking at the photos it is hard to believe the golfer could be close to a return to play, but the video he posted yesterday highlights just how far he has come.
There is speculation McIlroy may make his comeback in defence of his US PGA Championship title - at the final major of the year in Wisconsin next weekend.
