Rory McIlroy is celebrating his first Open win this morning, but instead of talking about that, everyone's discussing his refusal to give an autograph to a young fan.
Walking off the golf course yesterday after his win McIlroy did appear to give this young lad the brush-off. The world was watching and quickly condemned him for it.
Fellow golfer Ian Poulter quickly took to Twitter to defend Rory and explain the situation.
Just to clear up the signature thing. We are asked not to sign autographs until we have officially handed in our scorecards. #RulesAreRules

Which seems fair enough, but it hasn’t stopped a hailstorm of criticism being aimed at the young golfer.
Refusing the boy an autograph wasn’t the least popular thing Rory did yesterday, he got an even worse reaction after owning up to be a Man United fan in Liverpool.
