Galway dash Derry’s Euro hopes

Derry City 1 Galway United 3
Galway came from behind at the Brandywell to end a run of three straight defeats and dent cash-strapped Derry’s European qualifying hopes
James McClean gave Derry the lead after just four minutes when tapping home from Ciaran Martyn’s header from a Gareth McGlynn cross.
But Galway responded leveled just before the break. Derry failed to deal with Alan Murphy’s free-kick and David Cooke arrived at the back post to bundle the ball home.
A counterattack brought Galway the lead on 68 minutes when Aaron Greene outran Derry veteran defender Peter Hutton to shoot past keeper Ger Doherty.
A mistake by Doherty, who threw the ball straight to Murphy, gifted Galway their third goal 15 minutes from time.
