An umpire was rushed to Specsavers for a check-up after this truly horrendous call at an U-16 football match last weekend.
Ok, he wasn’t - but if this decision is anything to go by the umpire, apparently called Mickey, should definitely consider enlisting the help of an optician.
St. Michael's were taking on Carrickmore in the Paul McGirr Memorial Ulster Under-16 Club Competition and, to be fair, the sun was in the umpire’s eyes when he made the call.
You can see by the flag wave that his heart isn't in the decision and it was challenged with some ripe language from the sidelines before the ref overturned the score.
With thank to Jerome Quinn for the video, check it out here if you can’t view the clip.
St Michael’s went on to win 0-13 to 0-7.
