One Wexford All-Ireland winner has showed that he can still do a job for the club,
.It may have been almost exactly 20 years since Rory McCarthy and his teammates lifted the Liam MacCarthy Cup, but the St Martin’s clubman is still enjoying his hurling.
At 41 years young, McCarthy now plies his trade as a full-forward at Junior B level. You couldn’t imagine the Blackwater full-back was too keen to see him coming last Sunday morning!
It didn’t take the club’s Twitter account long to demand a call-up for McCarthy after he dispatched two early goals to the net.
Junior B semi vs Blackwater has started with TWO goals by Rory McCarthy, we lead 2-1 to 0-1. Put a Wexford jersey on that man!!

Retribution didn’t take long to follow!
Attempted decapitation on Rory McCarthy wins us a free which Micheál Lyng points, lead out to 2-5 to 0-1, junior B hurling v Blackwater.

But before long Blackwater had turned the game on its head.
Feckit! Carbon copy repeat goal makes it 3-4 to 2-6 for Blackwater, fool me once . . .

However McCarthy’s third goal sent the club’s Twitter account into raptures, while acknowledging the ‘scuttiness’ of the strike.
Goooooal! Rory again, his hat trick, 3-8 to 3-4, the scuttiest of the lot.

McCarthy’s treble wasn’t quite enough, though, as Blackwater won after extra-time to progress to the Wexford District final.
Final score. Blackwater 5-10 martins 4-12. Cracker of game. Fair play to both teams. Credit fully deserved to outstanding battle.
