VIDEO: Brian Hogan: ‘Canning and Holden will be a key battle’

By Kevin Murphy

Former Kilkenny centre-back Brian Hogan believes a number of key battles will have a huge bearing on the Leinster Hurling Final between Galway and Kilkenny on Sunday.

“The Galway full-forward line has great scoring potential and the battle between Joe Canning and Joey Holden will be interesting.”

“Joey is only a rookie, but if he can hold his own here - outside him he has two of the most experienced defenders in the game with Jackie Tyrell and Paul Murphy.”

The Cats provided a master class against Wexford which provided a seamless transition following the retirements of a number of players including Hogan.

“The show goes on in Kilkenny and the lads appear to be flying,” Hogan added. “The performance against Wexford was very encouraging.

“All the lads that walked away knew there was huge talent within the squad.”
