Tipperary through to Waterford Crystal Cup final

Tipperary 1-20 Limerick IT 2-12

Tipperary withstood a strong second-half comeback to book a Waterford Crystal Cup final place against Clare after today's win over Limerick IT at Dolla.

A late goal from Michael Heffernan secured victory for Eamon O'Brien's charges, who led by 0-13 to 0-3 at half-time, but saw the students bounce back on the restart.

The hosts claimed a 10-point interval lead with the likes of Joey McLoughney and Christy Coughlan on target while John O'Dwyer also impressed in the opening half.

LIT were held to just one point from the 10th minute until the interval, but aided by a gale-force wind in the second half they responded strongly on the restart.

Tipperary led by 0-15 to 0-6 after 45 minutes, but a Gary Guilfoyle penalty goal gave the students hope entering the final quarter.

The Premier County led by 0-20 to 1-10 with five minutes remaining, but LIT continued to eat into their lead, with a second Guilfoyle goal tiring the game in the 67th minute.

Tipperary showed great urgency in the closing stages and were rewarded two minutes later with Heffernan's goal as they held out for victory.
